Hi and welcome to another episode. It’s lovely to be back with you.
Thanks for tuning in and I encourage you to hit the follow button, so you don’t have to go searching for us in future. I’d hate you to miss any of the delights I have for you.
Today, let’s talk about attention.
Recently my husband and I went to stay with some friends in the NSW bush about 3 or 4 hours away from home. It’s a most beautiful place only accessible by 4-wheel drive. A complete get away.
No phone signal, *sigh*
Our friends stay there a lot and have now had internet installed but I declined the wifi password, so I wasn’t tempted to use my phone.
How nice is it when you have a complete break from digital devices. I try to do this periodically because I know like many of us, I am pretty much addicted to my phone!
Our friends have a lovely big fire pit on their property, and we sat around the fire before heading to the house for dinner.
The fire was so beautiful and warm that we decided after dinner to spend the remainder of the evening back by its side.
Now I usually head to my bed at around 9:30-10 o’clock but we were enjoying ourselves and the fire so much it was midnight before we said goodnight.
As we sat at the fire my face was so toasty warm, it definately had my attention. I kept putting my hands on my cheeks and enjoying how warm they were.
Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case for my thighs and back.
When we moved away from the fire, my attention was no longer on my warm face but now on how cold my body was, I realised that I hadn’t considered the whole of me whilst sitting there.
As I was thinking about this the next morning it made me think about how important it is to think about our business as a whole.
It’s very easy to find ourselves focused on the nice, the fun, the successful aspects of our business and not pay attention to other important areas.
For example, you might need to pay attention to marketing so as clients finish working with you you have other people ready to step into their place.
You might need to think about your bookkeeping, so you don’t get any big surprises at tax time.
Maybe you’ve forgotten about paperwork that needs attention or keeping areas of your work environment clean and maintained.
I invite you to have a think about your business as a whole. What are you focusing on because it’s pleasant, like me with my warm face by the fire, and what other areas need your attention?
When I sat back at the fire the next evening, I made sure I wrapped my body up appropriately for the temperature and trust me my body thanked me for it that night and the next morning.
What would your business thank you for if you paid it some attention and made some adjustments?
